Make It Perfect: Edit, Proofread

ghostwriter goes through a final edit (proofread) of your book for grammar, spelling errors and consistency to prepare for delivering a text that’s ready for publication.

After a ghostwriter has written and rewritten the material, created charts and graphs, and put together a table of contents with chapter headings and sub-headings, your book is almost ready to be sent off to the designer or printer. Now comes a final edit (proofread) to make sure your book is perfect.

Even with today’s spell-check computer programs, spelling errors can slip through for an amateur author. How often have you seen people mistakenly use “principal” when they meant “principle,” or “stationary” when they should have used “stationery”? A ghostwriter will catch those and other common errors.

Your manuscript will also be reviewed for grammar. You won’t have to remember what you were taught about putting a sentence together in your 10th grade English class. It’s a ghostwriter’s job to put your thoughts together in a clear and grammatically correct way.

Your book will also use the correct style and be consistent throughout all its pages. You won’t see “10%” in one chapter and “10 percent” in another. A ghostwriter will carefully review the entire book so that rules of style are correctly followed in all of the chapters.

After you’ve approved the final version of the book, the ghostwriter will work with the designer and publisher to make sure your book is the best it can be. When the work is completed, you’ll have a book you can be proud of!
